BATTLE CREEK (WKZO-AM) — Police are investigating after firefighters found an active marijuana grow site in a house that caught fire on Seivour Avenue.
The Battle Creek Fire Department says something ignited in the single-family residence’s basement and burned through the floor of an unfurnished front room late Tuesday. Firefighters also found fertilizer and other products used to grow the drug.
The blaze caused around $25,000 damage.
Both the fire department and Battle Creek police have launched an investigation.
Seventeen firefighters were on scene for about two hours, according to a press release.
