KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — Western Michigan head football coach P.J. Fleck says his Broncos have yet to play their best game this season.
This despite being 7-0 and blowing out Akron on the road 41-0 last weekend. The Broncos also hold impressive victories over two Big Ten schools and a 49-10 thrashing of Central Michigan.
“We haven’t played in all three phases the best we have and collectively put it together,” Fleck said. “We’ve done it on offense, we’ve done it on defense and we’ve done it on special teams, but we haven’t done it within the same game.”
Fleck hopes that achievement can be reached this Saturday. His Broncos face a tough challenge at Waldo Stadium against one of the Mid-American Conference’s biggest surprises, the 5-2 Eastern Michigan Eagles.
“They are very, very talented in all aspects of the game,” Fleck said. “They have one of the best defensive linemen in the country and their quarterback is playing at a high level. Once you start to win, it’s dangerous.”
EMU defeated Ohio on the road last weekend 27-20.
Kickoff for Saturday’s game is at 3:30 p.m. on Z-96.5.
