KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — The Kalamazoo Humane Society has been addressing the problem of pet overpopulation for well over a decade, reaching a new milestone this week in their Operation Fix-it program.
They began providing discounts on spaying and neutering in 2002, and just subsidized their 60,000th procedure.
Executive Director Aaron Winter says that many of them were done at their office on South Westnedge, which was originally designed to be a bridal dress shop.
He says they are still raising funding for a new home of their own, that will provide bigger and better facilities.
They held one of their big annual fundraisers, the Reverse Auction at the Fetzer Center Friday night.
