ST. JOSEPH (WKZO-AM) –Congressman Fred Upton has won reelection and is now calling for a time of healing.
Upton beat Paul Clements by 15 percent in their first meeting in 2014 and by 21 percent this time out, proving that it’s still possible to run a positive campaign and win, even if your opponent goes negative.
It also helped that Upton was able to seriously out-raise and outspend the democratic challenger.
Clements issued a statement saying, “I hope he will take greater strides to distance himself from the extremists within his own party. The dysfunction in Congress must end for the good of our country.”
He added, “Though we didn’t win, our campaigns have set fundraising records for Democrats in this district, and we built the strongest district-wide field program ever.”
