UNDATED (WKZO-AM) — There have been no fatal accidents so far this rifle deer season, but several incidents have been reported.
- A man loading Christmas trees onto a trailer was shot in both legs in Missaukee County Michigan. It was foggy when the shot rang out. That shooting remains under investigation. The victim is recovering.
- Branch County Sheriff’s deputies are trying to determine who shot a family dog that was let out for run in a rural area of the county early Tuesday morning. The dog has since been treated and is expected to fully recover.
- A 13-year-old girl in Alcona County was shot in the face when her 11-year-old brother tripped and a shotgun discharged on Tuesday. The girl will need additional surgeries but will recover.
- A dispute over a deer in Mason County left a hunter beat up and bleeding but alive. Patrick Mulligan says he heard a shot, saw a deer running and shot and killed it. He started to bring the deer in when he was confronted by two men in their 20s who claimed they shot it first. He lost the fistfight that followed. Those two men remain unidentified.
