KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — Bell-ringers with the Kalamazoo branch of the Salvation Army have begun collecting donations for the agency’s annual Red Kettle Campaign.
They began planting the kettles in front of businesses on Monday.
“Our goal for this year is about $160,000, which means, based on last year’s dollar-per-hour donations, we’ll need about 1,600 volunteer shifts,” Andrea Meinema, who is with the non-profit, said on Wednesday.
As many as 30 kettles could be out at once. A list of locations can be found here.
The charity uses proceeds from the drive to pay down operating expenses, as well as pay for services.
