KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — Thousands turned out for a rain shortened pep rally in Bronson Park in downtown Kalamazoo on Friday as the Western Michigan University football team and fans got geared up for this weekend’s nationally-televised game against Buffalo.
The cheer team cheered, The Bronco Marching Band played and President John Dunn got the party started before a heavy rain brought it to an abrupt halt, but not until after the team was introduced on stage and P.J. Fleck had a chance to rev up the crowd.
Kalamazoo Mayor Bobby Hopewell was thrilled the crowd stuck around despite the rain that was falling.
At least it was a relatively warm rain. The weather is expected to be much colder with a chance of snow during the game against the Buffalo Bulls. Kickoff at Waldo Stadium is set for 3:30 p.m. on Z-96.5.
