KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — The mayor of Kalamazoo is getting ready to throw the switch on the Christmas tree at Bronson Park.
Mayor Bobby Hopewell said there’s a jam-packed itinerary for the annual free event this year.
“We’ve got ice-carvers and arts and craft areas,” Hopewell said. “We’re also trying to stuff the sleigh this year and get a lot of food for Loaves and Fishes.”
The tree-lighting will take place at 6 p.m. Activities at the site will start at 5 p.m.
Hopewell also said the tree and the rest of the park will glow a bit brighter this year.
“We have $25,000 worth of new lights,” Hopewell said. “We’re going to have a lot of new things that you haven’t seen.”
You might want to bundle up. Meteorologists are expecting temperatures in the 30s and a chance of rain Friday night.
