KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — The Kalamazoo Valley Community College Foundation says it’s hoping to raise around $50,000 during its annual holiday fundraising drive.
“We’ve got a six, seven-week window where the majority of our funding comes in for our students for scholarships, and we’re right in the middle of it right now,” Steven Doherty, the executive director of the organization, said on Friday.
He said many students at KVCC rely on financial aid to get through school.
“We’re at a little over 12,000 students, and of those 12,000 we usually have somewhere in the neighborhood of 7,500 apply for financial aid,” Doherty said. “The foundation is able to support around 400 or 500 of those folks.”
Doherty says donations are being accepted through the mail, in person and online.
