DETROIT (WKZO-AM) — The person who shot and killed police officer Collin Rose is still on the loose and a $15,000 bounty is being offered for information that leads to a capture and prosecution.
Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy has announced that all charges have been dropped against the man they were holding for the shooting death of the Kalamazoo County native.
“We all remain deeply committed to making sure that justice is done in this case, that the perpetrator responsible for the death of Officer Rose is brought to justice,” Worthy said.
Sources say that Deangelo Davis was actually at an area business on Nov. 22 at the time of the shooting, which has been verified by video surveillance at that business. Detroit Police Chief James Craig said his department, Detroit Dog Rescue and the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms have each contributed $5,000 to the reward fund.
Rose is that Gull Lake High School Grad who began his career with the Richland police force and was an officer at Wayne State University when he was killed. He was the second officer from the region killed in the line of duty this fall.
Sturgis High School graduate Allen Brandt died in late October, 12 days after he was shot while on patrol in Fairbanks, Alaska. A suspect has been arrested in that killing.
So far this year, 63 officers have died in the line of duty, a 66 percent increase over last year.
