KALAMAZOO/ BATTLE CREEK (WKZO-AM) — A suspected drug dealer will be having a lousy Christmas, spending it in the Kalamazoo County Jail after a fender bender turned into perhaps the most expensive and un-merry Christmas they may ever experience.
PSO Matt Slenk was on routine patrol around 3:30 Friday afternoon when he drove up to a crash near Sheldon and 2nd Street in the Edison Neighborhood.
The driver ran off as soon as the patrol car came into view and was busted with the help of a passerby, after a lengthy foot chase.
The arrest resulted in the seizure of powder cocaine, crack, crystal meth and heroin. They also found a scale.
The suspect, a Kalamazoo resident was already on parole, so it may be sometime in the new year before they see freedom again.
A similar story for a Battle Creek man who was pulled over for a routine traffic matter near N.E. Capital Ave and Freemont Street at about 4 p.m. on Friday and found to be in possession of a hand gun and illegal narcotics.
He is spending Christmas in the County Jail as well.
