LANSING (WKZO-AM) — Governor Snyder is out of the state on vacation and that means Lt. Governor Brian Calley has gotten to sign some bills into law.
Among the pile of laws he signed are a few he championed, like a bill that would make Narcan, the drug that can reverse the effects of an Opioid overdose available in schools and also available without a prescription.
He also signed Senator Tonya Schuitmaker’s bill that requires that all high school aged children be taught basic cardio-pulmonary resuscitation, and the operation of a portable defibrillator.
Calley also gave final approval to bills that prohibit local jurisdictions from banning the use of plastic bags at grocery stores and restaurants, and a package of bills that will increase regulations on large dog breeding operations.
Another bill will permit animal shelters to do background checks on people trying to adopt animals.
