LANSING MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A proposed bill in Lansing would allow Michigan businesses and factories to seek and purchase energy from other sources.
The majority of energy to those industries is currently provided by Consumers Energy, but proponents say that opening up the competition would lower costs…and not just for those companies, but for residential customers as well.
The proposal would permit business customers to accept bids on energy, and accept the most cost-effective bid.
Supporters of the bill say that residential customers would benefit from the increased competition.
