BATTLE CREEK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The Battle Creek Fire Department (BCFD) is reporting that one firefighter was injured in an incident that occurred Monday afternoon.
Just after 1 p.m., crews were dispatched to Motus Integrated Technologies at 2500 Logistics Drive.
170 employees were evacuated from the premises while firefighters assessed the situation.
After extinguishing the fire, the BCFD was able to determine that a small fire had started in a manufacturing hopper that was processing a type of insulation for automobiles, but it was kept small due to the facility sprinkler and suppression system.
Although no employees were injured, the department reported that one firefighter had been hospitalized in this case due to “strenuous firefighting and high heat.”
No other injuries were reported in this incident.
