HASTINGS, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A Hastings teenager has been charged with murder after police found what they believe is the body of a missing 17-year-old in a shallow grave on Wednesday, October 13.
The Barry County Prosecutor’s Office charged 17-year-old Patrick Hunter Gilmore with open murder along with concealing the death of an individual, which carries with it, a five-year felony.
According to the Michigan State Police Wayland Post, the body was found by a K-9 unit during a search warrant on October 13 in Hastings Township. Troopers were able to obtain a search warrant after receiving information from a witness.
Police believe the remains are of 17-year-old Lane Roslund, who was reported missing by the Hastings Police Department on September 21. Roslund had last been seen at Tyden Park in Hastings on September 11.
Authorities say that an autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death and confirm the identity of the body.
Gilmore, who was charged as an adult, was arraigned in Hastings District Court on Thursday. His bond is currently set at $750,000, and is expected back in court on October 27.
