KALAMAZOO MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Incidents where motorists ignore the flashing lights on a school bus happen on an almost daily basis in Kalamazoo County…but a new tool will help identify those who do it.
Many school buses now have cameras onboard, and that will make it much easier for authorities to cite the offenders, who can face fines of up to $500 for the offense.
School officials say that drivers need to be more attentive when a bus stops, as children are at risk getting on and off.
The cameras will vastly reduce the amount of time needed to identify those who break the law.
