PORTAGE MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The city of Portage received a rebate through Consumers Energy in June to help reduce the carbon footprint in the state, and that funding has allowed the installation of the first city-owned electric charging station at City Hall.
Officials say that the money will allow for eight charging stations across the city, with one at the new Charles and Lynn Zhang Portage Community Senior Center slated to open next year.
Extra funds will allow for the placement of a second station at the Center.
