WASHINGTON (WHTC-AM/FM) – Three phases of help from Capitol Hill during the COVID 19 outbreak became law last month, and a fourth phase is being formulated.
Majority Democrats in the House say that they will be focusing on needs such as more personal protective equipment and higher payments than the 12 hundred dollars already agreed to for Americans impacted by the pandemic. Speaker Nancy Pelosi told reporters that the Lower Chamber will be “working together in a bipartisan way” that was, according to St. Joseph Republican Congressman Fred Upton, a factor in getting the three previous phases through Capitol Hill.
“We (the Problem Solvers caucus) had a big impact on this last version that past (last) Friday, and we’ll have an impact on the next one,” Upton said from his home during his weekly interview on “WHTC Morning News,” adding that help for small businesses from the CARES Act won’t last long.
Congress is currently on its scheduled Passover/Easter recess, and there will need to be measures passed in person for lawmakers to be able to enact legislation remotely.
