LANSING, MI (WTVB) – Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer is teaming up with other governors around the Midwest to coordinate how the region will reopen its economy once the coronavirus pandemic slows down.
Whitmer, along with the governors of Ohio, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Illinois, Indiana, and Kentucky, announced their partnership today.
The governors say they will focus on four key factors when they make their decisions, including the sustained control of infection and hospitalization rates, an enhanced ability to test and trace, sufficient health care capacity to handle resurgence, and best practices for social distancing in the workplace.
They say the partnership does not mean the region’s economy will all reopen at once, or that states will make the same moves at the same time.
