LANSING, MI (WTVB) – Demonstrators were back at the Michigan Capitol Thursday to protest Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s proposal to extend Michigan’s state of emergency as well as her stay-home order.
Hundreds of people were seen gathering outside the building and later making their way inside, with some wearing masks and others not wearing personal protective equipment or following social distancing guidelines. They say they feel Whitmer is more concerned with expanding her power as governor than the way her executive orders are impacting the economy.
The demonstration took place on the same day that legislators vote on Whitmer’s proposal to extend the state of emergency, with the House adjourning without extending it.
