BATTLE CREEK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A man accused of assaulting a woman in Battle Creek was taken into custody after a nearly three-hour stand-off Monday evening. Officers were called around 7:45 to a residence near Fremont and Calhoun streets on reports of a felonious assault.
When they arrived, the male suspect had gone inside the home and refused to exit the premises. Emergency response teams were deployed to the scene and negotiators began working to convince him to come outside. He eventually walked out at around 10:00 p.m. and was arrested.
He was taken to the Calhoun County jail on felonious assault charges and his name has not been released. The female victim was treated for minor injuries.
