KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The November Election is just over a month away, and while it is an off-year election there will still be some important items on the ballot in Kalamazoo County.
The only countywide issue will be a renewal of the millage for the Metro Connect system, the on-demand transportation service operated by Metro Transit. Director Sean McBride says they kept rolling during the pandemic when many other services went online or were shut down. He says they will be asking for just a little less this time around. He says they offer about 175,000 dial-a-rides annually in the county and have just added runs to the V.A. Hospital in Battle Creek.
Also on the ballots:
- Voters in Kalamazoo, Portage, and Parchment will pick Commission and Mayoral candidates.
- Galesburg, Pavilion Township and Galesburg-Augusta schools will also have funding issues for voters to decide on. (In the May election, a school bond issue at Galesburg-Augusta Schools came up short by just two votes.)
