LANSING, MI (WTVB) – Michigan Senate Majority Leader Mike Shirkey continues to blast Gov. Gretchen Whitmer for her Executive Orders and the impact they are having on businesses in the state.
Shirkey says the latest order by the Governor mandating the wearing of facemasks in all inside establishments has created confusion for the state’s businesses, and “put a whole bunch of people in the unnecessary and unwelcome position of being in law enforcement.”
The 16th District Senate Republican from Clark Lake says he hopes to have a conversation with the Governor’s office this week to provide clarity for not only businesses, but schools as they prepare plans for reopening this fall. He says confusion leads to frustration, and “frustration leads to some bad things when tempers get high enough.”
Shirkey says based on his assessment of the Governor’s own definitions of the different levels in her MI Safe Start Plan, he believes most of the state should be at Level Five by now.
