DIMONDALE, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – There has been another fatality in Michigan stemming from an altercation because someone was not wearing a mask during the COVID 19 outbreak.
Various media sources are reporting that a 43-year-old Grand Ledge man is dead after stabbing an unidentified 77-year-old man during a mask dispute Tuesday morning in the Lansing area community of Dimondale.
According to the Michigan State Police, the suspect pulled out a knife in the parking lot of a Quality Dairy store around 6:45 AM and stabbed the unnamed victim after the older man had asked the suspect inside of the establishment to put on a mask.
While the victim was treated for his wounds, Sean Ruis drove off into a nearby neighborhood and was pulled over a short time later by an Eaton County Sheriff’s Deputy. Ruis purportedly then drew the knife on the deputy, who fired his weapon and killed the suspect.
The unnamed deputy has been placed on administrative leave while the Michigan State Police investigate the incident.
In May, a 43-year-old security guard at a Family Dollar in Flint was killed trying to enforce the state’s policy on wearing a mask. Three persons have been charged in the death of Calvin James Munerlyn.
