WASHINGTON D.C. (WTVB) – After a very long break during the coronavirus crisis, the U.S. House of Representatives is scheduled to be back in session for the next two weeks, and for Michigan 7th District Congressman Tim Walberg, it can’t come soon enough.
Walberg has been attending semi-virtual committee meetings at the Capitol, but the House has not met as a group for several months. He says Congress should see itself as essential workers and handle business as usual.
The congressman expects a bipartisan vote on the National Defense Reauthorization Act to be one of the first items of business, but also expects Congress to vote on more COVID-19 aid for businesses and schools.
Walberg says schools will need money for retrofitting their buildings for the return of students, and also for making alternate arrangements for bus transportation.
