KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The Broncos Kitchen Foundation, a nonprofit hunger-relief charity, will kick off its capital campaign from 3 to 6 p.m. on Friday, October 1.
The event will take place at their Wesley Foundation meal site, located at 2350 Ring Road North. Free food, gift cards and toiletries will be given away to college students at the event.
Broncos Kitchen Foundation’s goal is to raise $3.1 million. The funds will be used for property acquisition, building construction and equipment purchases.
It will also be used to hire up to 25 full- and part-time employees.
Broncos Kitchen Foundation will build a commissary to prepare and distribute free dinners to food-insecure Kalamazoo area college students and their immediate families.
A small fleet of food trucks will be deployed throughout the campus housing community to serve meals Monday through Thursday year-round. Broncos Kitchen Foundation plans to hire college students to operate their mobile kitchens (food trucks), as the program is designed as a student-lead enterprise.
Donations to the Broncos Kitchen Foundation are tax-deductible.
Interested donors can send a check or money order to Broncos Kitchen Foundation, P.O. Box 2632, Kalamazoo, Michigan 49003, or online at www.broncoskitchenfoundation.
