GRAND RAPIDS (WKZO AM/FM) — An early morning fire at the The Preserve at Woodland Apartments in Grand Rapids has left about 20 tenants homeless after 7 of them had to be rescued from balconies and two of them required treatment for smoke inhalation.
Fire crews were dispatched after 1am to the apartment complex and they had the fire knocked down in 45 minutes, but not before a dozen units were damaged.
The Red Cross is providing temporary shelter and assistance to the displaced tenants.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
