STURGIS, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Sturgis Hospital has cut away some unprofitable departments to minimize losses but they may still be able to serve cancer patients.
Their Birthing Center and a Hospice facility were closed and so were some smaller units.
But it appears intervention from Ascension Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo will save its cancer treatment facility.
The larger hospital will provide administrative support and billing services and the Oncology Center will retain local nurses and support staff.
It will mean patients who had been using the Sturgis Hospital cancer facility won’t have to travel miles to receive treatments as was first feared.
