EAST LANSING (WKZO AM/FM) — The Michigan State University Board has new members, picked a new chair and seem to be headed in a new direction.
The Trustees voted at their first meeting on Wednesday to reverse President John Engler’s decision to eliminate the Healing Fund, which was established to cover the medical costs of the survivors of the Larry Nassar sexual abuse scandal.
New Board Chair Dianne Byrum says they don’t know what it will look like or how they will fund it, but they have approved its reinstatement.
They hope all that will be sorted out by their next meeting in February.
Eliminating the fund resulted in a number of protests and tension on campus.
