KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — A Wind Chill Advisory has been issued for most of southwest Michigan until noon on Monday as temperatures are expected to dip to -11 in Kalamazoo overnight, with wind chill factors nearing 20 to 25 below zero near dawn.
That means that cold air and the wind will combine to create low wind chills. Frostbite and hypothermia can occur if precautions are not taken. Make sure you wear a hat and gloves.
That followed the 6 to 10 inches of fresh snow that fell on the I-94 corridor on Saturday. It’s part of a storm system that is impacting the U.S. from the plain states to the East Coast.
Nationally nearly 115-million people are under some form of storm notice. Thousands of flights have canceled at U.S. airports.
Road conditions remain icy. Salt and other road treatments just don’t work at these temperatures.
