ALLENDALE (WKZO AM/FM) — Grand Valley State University is welcoming in their first female President.
The GVSU Board of Trustees voted unanimously on Tuesday to appoint Dr. Philomena Mantella as the university’s 5th President as current President, Thomas Haas, retires later this year.
Dr. Mantella earned her doctorate in college and university administration at Michigan State University, has a master’s and a bachelor’s degree in social work from Syracuse University, and has served at Northeastern University in Boston for 18-years.
President Haas will retire on July 1st and Dr. Mantella will take over then.
