SOUTHWEST MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Freezing rain is mostly to blame for a large number of crashes, slide offs, and cancellations Tuesday evening and into Wednesday morning.
A Metro Bus flipped onto its side along West Main in Oshtemo due to the road conditions, but there were no major injuries.
The Kalamazoo City Commission meeting and their vote on the 2019 budget has been rescheduled for next Monday.
Even Detroit Metro Airport closed down for several hours overnight because of the icy conditions.
A majority of schools in Southwest Michigan have the day off Wednesday morning.
To name a few, Kalamazoo, Battle Creek, Portage Public Schools are all closed as well as Western Michigan University, Kalamazoo Valley Community College, and Kalamazoo College, but a full list with over 100 schools can be found here.
As road conditions improve throughout the day drivers should still be on the look out for some lingering icy spots.
