BATTLE CREEK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A young Branch County couple has died but somehow their baby survived a night in a home filled with deadly carbon monoxide.
Sgt. Todd Elliott says they recorded traces of the deadly gas at levels that were twice as high as it takes to be lethal.
They say the 20-year-old Brandon L. Bull of Bronson was refurbishing the old home on S.W. Capitol Avenue which had no utilities.
He was not supposed to be staying there with his wife, 19-year-old Cylie J. Canniff of Coldwater, and their 5-month-old infant.
Bull had set up a kerosene heater and a gas powered generator inside the home, creating not one but two sources of the deadly gas.
Sgt. Elliott is calling it a terrible accident, and “it’s by God’s grace that this child survived.”
