KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The weather rollercoaster is about to take another white knuckle drop.
A Winter Weather Advisory goes into effect at 12 noon Thursday until 7:00 p.m. Friday for Kalamazoo, Allegan, Barry, Van Buren, Cass, Mecosta, Muskegon, Ottawa, and Kent counties, with up to 5 inches of lake effect snow expected.
A Wind Chill Advisory is in effect from 3:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Friday for Branch, St. Joseph, and Hillsdale counties.
This winter season certainly hasn’t been boring. Each new advisory this week has been for a fresh winter challenge.
First heavy snow, then sub-zero wind chills, and yesterday’s freezing rain.
National Weather Service Meteorologist Nathan Jeruzal says it’s typical during an “el Nino” winter for it to change half way through from mild to wild.
He says by this time next week we could be looking at more record-breaking lows.
