MT. PLEASANT (WKZO AM/FM) — This comes as no surprise. The Central Michigan University student charged with gunning down his parents in his dorm room in March of last year has entered a plea of not guilty to murder by reason of insanity.
James Davis Jr. had been checked into a psychiatric facility the night before the killings because he was exhibiting erratic behavior, claiming someone was trying to kill him. He managed to slip away from that facility.
When his parents came to pick him up the next day, Police say that Davis took the service revolver from his father’s car up to the room and shot both James and Diva Davis to death. His dad was a retired police officer.
Currently Davis Jr. remains incompetent to stand trial. He has been remanded to the State Center for Forensic Psychiatry for an indefinite stay.
