HOLALND (WTHC-AM/FM) — At least 15 vehicles piled up in a crash Tuesday morning on I-196. Ottawa County Dispatch Authority posted a Facebook message telling drivers to avoid that area.
Despite plowing and salting, road conditions remain difficult, at best. The eastbound lanes are closed between Mile Marker 55 (also known as the Zeeland exit) and for three miles east to the crash scene at Mile Marker 58.
Drivers are advised to keep their headlights on — not all smart cars will do this automatically during the day — and, in white-out conditions, turn on emergency flashers, slow down and allow extra room between vehicles.
