LANSING (WKZO AM/FM) — One state representative has written a letter urging the new Governor to reauthorize the state team that revealed the PFAS contamination in Parchment.
The M-PART Team completed the initial mission given to it by former Governor Rick Snyder at the end of last year, when it wrapped up testing the water in smaller towns and schools that had not been required to test for it before.
Rep. Sue Allor says the team brought a unique approach to environmental issues because it included personnel from several agencies working together on a specific contaminant.
DEQ Spokesman Scott Dean says M-PART continues to do testing for PFAS sites, but its directive expired and its director retired on December 31st when Snyder left office.
Whitmer spokesperson Tiffany Brown says it’s all under consideration.
