KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Several thousand people on the west side of Kalamazoo were without electricity for most of the overnight. Even though the weather was calm and quiet, Consumers Energy says trees were the apparent cause.
The outage was first reported just after 11:30 Wednesday evening. About 4,500 were in the dark in an area along W. Main St. from West Main hill to Drake Rd. and areas to the north and south along that route.
Consumers said after crews were dispatched to work on restoration, they discovered that the damage was worse than originally reported. Power was restored at around 4:00 a.m..
