BATTLE CREEK (WTVB) – A former Athens Area Schools teacher, charged with having sex with a student, has cut a deal with Calhoun County prosecutors.
In addition to the long running affair with the 17-year-old whom he impregnated, 30-year-old Tyler Milward has also been charged with an assault on his wife and pilfering equipment from the schools science labs and the baseball team and selling it all on E-Bay.
In exchange for a guilty plea to criminal sexual conduct, a computer crime and lying to police, prosecutors agreed to drop several other sex, perjury and embezzlement charges.
The Battle Creek Enquirer reports the sentences will concurrently.
Under sentencing guidelines authorities say Milward will get at least seven years in prison.
