KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — Teacher’s aides and assistants working in Kalamazoo Schools appealed to the Board of Trustees Thursday night to help them make up for lost salary because of this winter’s rash of snow days.
Teachers got checks but hourly workers who aren’t represented by any of the unions did not get paid for 12 full days.
They told trustees it hurts.
Battle Creek and Grand Rapids schools have given their hourly teacher’s aides a stipend.
If there are make-up days later, they would get some of the money back, but as many as 9 of the days will not be made up.
Board President Patti Scholler Barber promised it would be discussed.
