PENNFIELD TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Fire investigators in Calhoun County are looking for the cause of a basement fire that killed a man in Pennfield Township Friday..
They were dispatched to the 100 block of Wanondoger Trail mid-morning Friday. The name of the victim has not been released.
Calhoun County Sgt. Steve Watson says they got a 911 call from a neighbor about smoke coming from the home.
They found his body of the 46-year-old just inside the door and pulled him out but he could not be revived.
They say he appears to have died from smoke inhalation, and while it does not appear to be foul play, a post mortem is planned.
