NEW YORK (WKZO AM/FM) — Michigan State did it again, beating the Wolverines for a third time this season to win the Big Ten Tourney Sunday, 65 to 60, but despite that record, both the Spartans and the U of M will be two seeds as the NCAA Tourney begins this week.
The Spartans will tip-off against 15-seeded Bradley Braves at 2:45 Thursday afternoon.
The Wolverines will face the 15-seed, Montana Grizzlies in round one of the Big Dance in prime time Thursday evening at 9:20.
Several commentators say that the Spartans have a much tougher path to the Final Four in the East Region where Duke is #1, than the Wolverines face in the West Region where Gonzaga is the top seed.
Despite being assigned to different regions, both teams will open play in Des Moines, Iowa for the opening round of eliminations.
There is a reason it’s called “March Madness”.
Eight teams from the Big Ten have gotten invitations to participate in the Championship Tourney, more than any other conference.
