Washington D.C. (WKZO AM/FM) — It could have gone either way, but the ball bounced Michigan State’s way in the final minutes and the Spartans are heading back to the Final Four.
The second-seeded team from East Lansing slugged it out toe to toe with top-overall seed Duke, winning 68-67 in the East Regional Final in Washington, DC.
A steely nerved 3 pointer with 33 seconds to go by Kenny Goins proved to be the dagger.
Cassius Winston scored 20 points and got 10 assists for the Green and White.
The Spartans advance to the Final Four for the first time since 2015 to take on third-seeded Texas Tech, the team that bumped the Wolverines from the Big Dance, next weekend in Minneapolis.
The winner of that game will play the winner of the Auburn-Virginia game for the National Championship.
