BATTLE CREEK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A Battle Creek woman who was rescued from her burning apartment has now died from her injuries.
The fire broke out Sunday afternoon at a two-story building in the 500-block of Hamlin Avenue in Battle Creek and the woman was pulled out of the flames, resuscitated, and initially listed in critical condition.
Her name has not been released and the initial cause of death was listed as smoke inhalation.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
Two dogs that lived in an upstairs apartment also died in the blaze.
The Red Cross is helping the other displaced tenants with temporary lodging.
