LAKE TOWNSHIP (WKZO AM/FM) — Berrien County Sheriff deputies are identifying the body that washed up on the beach over the weekend as a woman who had been missing from Chicago for over three months.
The body was discovered by someone walking along the water at about 12″40 p.m. Sunday in Lake Township north of Warren Dunes State Park.
Forensics teams determined that it was 24-year-old Eddisa Concepción Herrera who jumped into Lake Michigan with two men at the North Avenue Beach in Chicago back in December but never made it out.
She was apparently a grad student at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
Officials are calling her death an accidental drowning.
