HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — Saugatuck Public School officials have taken to social media to make a case for an upcoming bond request. The district is asking for homeowners to pay about $5.67 a month for every $100,000 in home value, generating nearly $40 million for the district.
The money would be used for renovations to aging building systems such as mechanical, electrical, plumbing, as well as replacing roofing, and updating lighting, fire safety, and accessiblity for people with disabilities.
It would also pay for a new music and band suite to support the district’s growing middle-and-high school program.
Holland-are voters will see a 20-year, .25-mill increase request by the Holland Community Aquatic Center, also on the May 7, 2019, ballot.
That money would used to add a new lap pool, a warm-water leisure pool, update wellness spaces, and more. The facility also received a $25,000 competitive grant from the Community Foundation of the Holland/Zeeland area last week to help plan the updates.
