CHICAGO (WKZO AM/FM) — Gas prices around west Michigan have spiked to just a hair under $3 a gallon, just as President Trump has taken an action that will likely mean even higher prices.
Gasbuddy.com’s Patrick DeHaan says the spike has more to do with market factors coming to a head. Gas stations had been charging at cost or below cost and needed an adjustment.
He says the White House decision to end waivers for countries buying heavy crude from Iran immediately sent crude prices up to the highest level they have been all year.
It’s just a matter of time before those hikes result in higher prices at the pump.
