WEST MICHIGAN (WHTC-AM/FM) — West Michigan farmers who spent Easter weekend hauling donations of cash and supplies to Nebraska farms devastated by recent storms say the help needs to continue.
Kerry Ackeman Tucker, of Farm and Rancher Aid from West Michigan, told WHTC West Michigan residents were generous with the Easter weekend convoy, donating $22,000 in cash, used to buy fencing, and farmers from Ottawa, Allegan and Kalamazoo counties donated huge amounts of straw and hay.
Too major winter storms left behind an estimated $1.5 billion in damage to Nebraska farms. Ackeman Tucker said Nebraska farmers will continue needing a helping hand over this next several months.
