KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — Saturday is National Drug Take Back Day and health and law enforcement officials are working together to get surplus prescription drugs off the streets of Southwest Michigan.
State Police Posts and Sheriffs Offices will have drop off points.
Bronson Community Health will host take back events at hospitals in Kalamazoo, Battle Creek, and South Haven and there will be one at the Antwerp Township Community Center in Mattawan.
Bronson’s Joyce Griffith says unneeded or outdated pills, capsules, and patches can be dropped off, no questions asked.
Sites will be open from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.
They will be handed over to law enforcement officers and properly destroyed.
Last year about 40,000 opioid pills were collected during the Take Back Day.
