STURGIS, MI (WTVB) – A 27-year-old suspect was arrested after a 65-year-old man was beaten up while riding his motorcycle Wednesday night in what is being called a road rage incident at a busy intersection in Sturgis.
Corey Happner of Sturgis is in Borgess Hospital after he suffered severe facial injuries. Gruesome pictures of his injuries have been posted on line by his family and they say the suspect, who is also from Sturgis, has been released on bond after he was charged with assault and battery.
Sturgis Police say the incident happened at the intersection of Nottawa and Congress.
What started the incident is not clear. Happner’s daughter told WNDU-TV that the suspect swore at her father before knocking him off of his motorcycle.
She said the suspect drove off but the police got his license plate number from a passerby.
Happner is retired and a Go Fund Me page has been set up by his family to help with medical and legal expenses.
